Christmas Books Giveaway Hop with Author Heather Vogel Frederick

christmas books hopIt’s that time of year again folks! I’m not going to lie…I love Christmas. I always have and having a three year old now who is literally obsessed with Christmas has only made it more special. One of my favorite things about Christmas has also always been that extra reading time and if I am lucky bookstore gift cards coming my way or even that one special book under the tree on Christmas morning. So to celebrate I am participating in the Christmas Book Giveaway Hop hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer & Laurie Here. This great giveaway hop has over 120 blogs participating and giving away one or more Christmas themed tomes. Make sure to check out the participating blog list here.

This holiday season I decided to team up with the always lovely, talented and extremely generous Heather Vogel Frederick so we could provide some very lucky reader with copies of her fifth installment in the fabulous Mother- Daughter Book Club series:  Home for the Holidays. It’s the perfect read for Mom or Daughter…or even better Mom and Daughter together. It would also make a fantastic Christmas present and I know Heather would be more than happy to sign it to that special someone if you’d like. She’s just that kind of person. A true gem of an author indeed. I have honestly enjoyed every book in this series and each can be read alone or in order so don’t worry if you’re not all caught up!

To enter to win just comment below and let us know your favorite book to read during this time of year…it doesn’t have to be Holiday related whatsoever. For instance I often re-read my favorite classics this time of year simply because I have the time. This year I am re-reading Les Miserables by Victor Hugo in preparation for the release of the movie musical. So…as you sip hot cocoa, sit by the fire and maybe just maybe…watch it snow ( who am I kidding…I live in Georgia)…what book will you have in hand?

Three lucky winners will be chosen here at Stiletto Storytime to win their own copy of Home for the Holidays by Heather Vogel Frederick. This Giveaway Hop will end on December 9, 2012 at midnight EST. This giveaway is open to US/CAN addresses only. Winners will be chosen by random number generator and notified by e-mail.

I always love to read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens this time of year. Just makes it Christmas for me. 🙂

  2. Ooh, Booking Mama raves over these books. I generally don’t read the same book every year but I do love Christmas books. A favorite is The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

I subscribe to your blog in Google Reader and follow you on Twitter.

      Kathy-
I love “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”…when I was a children’s librarian I did that for my 9-12 yr old Book Club and then we decorated cookies and watched the movie…the kids loved it! Have you seen the movie? That book is so fabulous and gets overlooked a lot…thanks for mentioning it!

      Sarah-
I recently had to stay overnight in the hospital for surgery and I took “Flowers in the Attic” with me…I hadn’t read it since middle school so it was like reading it for the first time. I could not put it down. Despite the pain killers….I read all night. The nurses kept saying you need rest Ms. Librarian! 😉

  8. Sarah p.

One thing I learned about Heather was that she was born into a family of readers and I thought that it was a cute pic displayed on her About page, her reading to her cousin 🙂

  10. I have to confess that I don’t have one particular favorite book that I love to read this time of year:) But what I do love is to snatch up as many of the Christmas romance novels that are released at this time of year that I can…
I am already a follower by email:)

  11. My Great Aunt Florence left me a complete set of Charles Dickens’ books printed in the 1800s. Every Christmas I pull out one of the books filled with Christmas stories. They are all wonderful, and it gives me a chance to remember my Great Aunt, a real Grande Dame whom I am so glad to have known albeit briefly.

  12. Kami

I like reading basically any book, any time. But if I had to choose I would say that I like to read mysteries and classics during the winter.

  13. I think my favorite books to read this time of year are the Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis). I’m not sure why, but maybe it’s because The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe has parts about Christmas.

  14. Izzy

My favorite book around this time of year is probably the Chronicles of Narnia. Any of the books in that series (though my favorite is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader). Or any of the books by Melanie Dickerson.

  15. Jennifer M

I got my daughter the first three books in the Mother Daughter book club series for Christmas last year. She loved them so much that I read them, too. I love to get into the holiday spirit this time of year, and reading books that Emma, Jess, Cassidy, Megan, and Becca read make me smile! I love the MDBC and love reading classics this time of year.

  20. Fiona

During the winter no holiday break I am really lazy and end up reading short Christmas books like Twas the night before Christmas. But since Heather Vogel Fredrick is my second favorite author I would have to say Much ado about Anne.I can relate to things that happen in all the books but this one is my favorite. I hope I win! ♥♥

  21. Oh, I just love The Worst/Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Elaine Stritch…. it’s a hilarious story that teaches the true meaning of Christmas in a totally different and fun way 🙂

  22. I love reading “The Christmas Train” by David Baldacci. It is one of my favorite Christmas books that I re-read every year.

  29. Erika

Thanks for the chance to win! I don’t have any books that I read every year at this time but I always try to read as much as possible when it is usually cold, snowy and I have to work less:) This year I might sneak in a classic novel too! Thanks again!

  45. Maya

My favorite book to read during the holiday season would have to be any novel involving snow. Even though it normally doesn’t snow during Christmas where i live, I love reading about the frosty snowflakes and how the characters in the book respond.

  70. Fumi

My favorite book for the holidays would have to be Home for the Holidays. I re-read it again on Thanksgiving Day when I was tired and super busy like Becca was. I love the book and can’t think of any better book to spend the holidays with!

I blogged about it here: http://writerandbookworm.blogspot.com/2012/12/this-is-kinda-late-but.html

    And I followed your blog.

  71. Allie

I always read the Harry Potter series and hope that there will be a 8th

  72. The Harry Potter series, for sure. I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but I just want to curl up with a cup of pumpkin juice and one of Gram’s afghans and read until I have devoured all seven. Then I would move on to the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. LOL… not very “Christmasy”, but those are my winter reads!

  73. Julia

Hmmm, what do I read around Christmas? Well, I do love to read Home for the Holidays, and I also just read Les Miserables. I like to read Little Women. It reminds me of Christmas, espacially at the beginning. But every year there is a book that my family reads on Christmas Eve. What is it? Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse” Of course!

  74. I love reading classics during the holidays, because classics are such cozy & comforting books to read in chilly weather. I follow your blog!

  75. Cindy Sofie

My grandmother told me as a young child that “if you read, you will always have a friend.” I was not the child that could sit down and be quiet, I was always on the go. Now as an adult, I so wish I had been that child. I have missed so many years of “new friends” in books. I must say that in the last 5 years I have made up by reading non stop. I ran into The Mother Daughter Book Club book 1 at Goodwill just a few months ago. Since then one of my best friends have been buying, reading and sharing this series. I wish I had a series like this to share with my daughters growing up. I have shared with a lot of people what a great series this would be for them to purchase for their children and grandchildren for Christmas. I am so excited to read some of the classics for the first time after being introduced to them through this series!!!!! My favorite books at Christmas time are Richard Paul Evans’s stories, The Looking Glass, The Time piece, The Letter, The Carousel and The Locket. My heart is full of joy!! P.S. I wish I had found this website yesterday.

  76. Kai Charles

My favorite book to read this time of year is the Nutcracker 🙂

  77. stilettostorytime

Congrats to Fiona, Kiki and Darlene!!!
