  6. Crystal W

My favorite book is probably Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins..there’s no way to put a spin on Tom’s books (they’re already spinning around enough ) so I settle for just one extra entry..thanks for it though!!

+ 5 A new twist on the story would be Harry dies and the whole story is told from the Weasley twins perspective, which would make things much funnier. Oh, and Fred doesn’t die!

  12. I’m not sure I can list my favorite book, but my favorite book so far of 2010 is Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan. I’d love to see it redone as an actual musical, with a soundtrack and everything, but that’s kind of close to the original premise.

But could you imagine if Tiny Cooper turned out to be a Twilight-style vampire? That’d be too funny.

So yeah, I got a little sidetracked. Thanks for the giveaway! 😀

My fav is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins! I’m a follower! thanks!

One of my favorite series too! I am sure you have Mockingjay on your list and August 24th written down. Make sure to keep a watch out for an early review here on Stiletto Storytime!

  16. Hmmm… I have a new favourite book every week, lol. Current favourite is J.R. Ward’s Lover Mine since that is what I am currently reading!

One book that I’d like to see redone would be Charlotte’s Web. The twist would be that it would be a saucy paranormal romance for grown-ups with shapeshifters, vampires and demons instead of barn animals. Charlotte would be a vamp and she could keep her name. Wilbur would be called Will and he would be a shapeshifter, as would the rest of the animals. The humans would be the demons. The story line would be similar, with Charlotte & the shifters banding together to save Will from the demons who have marked him for death by proving that he is worth saving. Charlotte may still die in the end but not before she mates with Will and bears their hybrid off-spring. The sequels will focus on Will watching out for their children as they struggle to make a life for themselves as vamp/shifters.

  17. Christina

I’m following you on Bloglines. Thanks for the giveaway! My favorite book at the moment is the actually a trilogy – The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. A friend encouraged me to read it and I just couldn’t put it down! To be honest, I don’t think I would do anything to change the book but I would definitely make it into a 3D movie!

  18. You know… I think I’m going to say The Forest of Hands and Teeth is my favorite. But it’s already zombies, so I can’t imagine what could be changed about it.

This is a great giveaway – I’ve been waiting to read this one. Thanks!

I just finished The Dead-Tossed Waves…I highly recommend it if you like The Forest of Hands and Teeth and it seems there will be more!! =)

  19. Cynthia N

Oh, so many books, so little time! And you ask to choose only one!

The Vampire Lestat by the great Anne Rice. She set the bar when it came to writing the genre that all are striving for.

Pride, Prejudice and Zombies huh? That is a new one for me.

  23. Oh, my favorite book is Wuthering Heights! (I did the entry backwards lol)

  24. Marc

My favorite book is actually a trilogy of books called ‘X-Men:Mutant Empire’ by Christopher Golden. I wouldn’t want a spin put on it because it’s wonderful the way it is but if pushed then I would like to see the X-Men incorporated into a book in the ‘Alien’ or ‘Predator’ series.

I would love to see a spin on twilight, to be honest. & I’d wanna see Jacob be with Bella instead of Edward.

We could call it .. Mini me.
No I’m joking 😉 But we actually call it, like Vampire diaries. How origininal am I

  34. Thanks for the chance!

  35. One of my favorite books would have to be….hmmm, “The Season” by Sarah MacLean!

  36. If I had the chance to change the name of “The Season” I actually don’t think I would. I really like the name of it and it suits the book perfectly. What I would change in the story? I think I’d add an interesting twist that has to do with horses – maybe one of the girls rides her horse out to meet with someone?

  37. Mmm, looks awesome!

Oh man, so many favourite books, pretty hard to choose. For now, I’ll have to go with The Hunger Games 🙂

    • stilettostorytime

  50. mim

my fave book is Ronia the Robber’s Daughter by Astrid Lindgren (has been my fave since i was eight!)

  51. My favorite book is The Rapture of Canaan

  52. mim

it’s difficult to think of a way to spin it, because what made it magical was the pov of the character (it was 3rd person but very focused on ronia and the way she experienced the world as a child) and the setting (magical forest, robber’s keep) .

usual ways of spinning (to me) are making it from another character’s pov, or adding on how they grew up/what comes next, or placing the story somewhere else. Even making it from her male friend’s pov would take away from the awesome experience of reading about a strong little girl who was the hero of the story and her own life, whose voice i could relate to…
    hmm….

  53. Linda Kish

    Count me in please.

I have A LOT of favorites, but I would have to say my most favorite is Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice. I love it and it’s the book I’ve read the most times (4)!

For the five extra entries: One of my other most favorites is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I recently came up with this for it: Pillars of the Graveyard–these undead are determined to build the most awe inspiring mausoleum in the boneyard.

  63. My favorite book is Mr. Tickle, by Roger Hargreaves (a kids book)

  64. CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

To change the title of the book I might change it to Love after death. And I think the end I would change to him actually living and her becoming a zombie as well. 🙂 I am sure it would be great if they could also find something that will help zombies live longer. I found it very hurting that he died. 😦

    Thanks,

  76. Zoe

I think that a good alternate ending to the gargoyle would have been that the girl didn’t “kill her self” but it ended up that the story she was telling was true and they went on to living for 100’s of more years.

Hello, interesting giveaway and contest. 🙂
I don’t have only one favorite book, but I’ll choose something. Okay, how about The Memoirs of Cleopatra? I’m a big fan of time travel fiction, so what if someone did a book called Cleopatra’s time-traveling diary? She’d get to see the future of Egypt as a tourist.

I have too many favorites, but a book I read earlier this year that I really enjoyed was The Child Thief by Brom. I only wish you could get a look into the captain’s past. That book was pretty twisted on its own so I don’t think I would add any more. 🙂

wow, one favorite book. Well, one of my many favorites is The Mummy by Anne Rice. It might have been infinitely more interesting if The Mummy was more like Imhotep in the mummy movies. That could have been amusing. The it could have been called “The Mummy and his appetizers.” (um…eww.)

  106. I must admit, when I first heard of these “Zombies” books, I was less than interested. I love the classics, and didn’t think that these would be good. But THEN I started reading some reviews, and I’ve become interested!

  107. I don’t know for certain if we are supposed to leave extra entries as separate comments; if not, please feel free to delete. My favorite book is “Les Miserables”, but I’m not creative enough to think of a good spin on THAT title right now! 🙂

+5 A favorite book I would like to see redone with a twist is Life of Pi. I would rename it. Life of the Faithful. Instead of Pi being in a lifeboat with “animals” he would be in the lifeboat with the three religious persons he met in the beginning of the book and it would be interesting what they would talk about, how they would try to convert him to just one religion, the bickering that would go on, how religious people deal with life threatening situations, what they would do to survive(would a priest eat a dead body on lifeboat to survive?), if a strong faith really does help one survive in such desperate conditions, etc. That would be interesting.

If I could put a unique twist on it, I would put some time traveling-ish aspect in it. Just so I could change the ending. 😛 The new title could be Tuck Everlasting Through Time. LOL, cheesy.

My favorite book is either “Deep Wizardry” by Diane Duane, or “The Dark is Rising” by Susan Cooper. I can’t decide!

For a spin-off – Diane Duane’s doing really well on that one, it being an ongoing series and all. 🙂

For both series, though…I’d love to see a well-made movie (I don’t really think The Seeker fits that criteria) or (even better) a TV series or animated television show. I’d love to see the story come to life on-screen.

Thank you very much for the giveaway!

You are not alone in that opinion…most children’s librarians feel the same….a good adaptation of “The Dark is Rising” has been long over due!

  142. My favorite book of all time is Stephen King’s The Stand.

    Great contest.

I loved the book Burning Lamp by Jayne Ann Krentz

  144. Brianna Bruce

My current favorite book is the City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau. I would love to see it become a Broadway musical or something spectacular like that. I think that if I could change the title it would be Fading Embers, because it would fit with the story line about the lights in the underground city fading, although I like the title that it already has.

So, including the initial entry, this would be seven entries! Thank you so much for this contest.

I think the new name should be In the Lamps Shadow and that the heroine should become really powerful after working the lamp.
