I am doing a Thomas the Tank Engine program in April called”Thomas Time“. When we did registration for our children’s programs it was full in about ten minutes. While I never really watched Thomas I did watch” Shining Time Station“which was a spin-off of Thomas from what I understand. All of this made me think about why kids really connect to programs about their “favorites”. I know you can chalk it all up to commericialism and materialistic societies…but that is just such a negative view. I do those programs because I remember what it felt like as a child to be so excited about a toy or character. They lit a fire in you…you were so excited because you felt a connection. There is something to that…even now as an adult I get so excited when I get a chance to talk about my favorite things when I was growing up like….
She-ra The Princess of Power!
I had She-ra everything. I was She-ra at least once for Halloween. One of my favorite toys growing up was my She-ra castle which had an elevator that you would pull the string and it went up and down…it also had a cool canopy bed that I thought looked like a boat. Oh how I loved that thing! I still have a She-ra thermos from my lunch box one year.
I loved Fraggle Rock! Especially Red, she was my favorite. I have a few Fraggle Rock DVDs my mom has found over the years. I watch them sometimes when I am sick and home in my bed.
Glow Worms, Popples, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, Kid Sister
Kid sister and my buddy dolls were great. I had one of each.My kindergarten graduation was care bear themed. I think I was Sunshine Bear! Care Bear Stare! Oh there were so many great toys when I was young it is hard to pick just a few! But alas all of these were some of my favorite things! What were some of your favorite toys?
